Requirements and assistance

  • A secure connection is required. If your website does not have an SSL certificate (https connection), you will be presented with a dialog box every time you load a page or when you make a voice command (depending by browser and settings).
  • Because webkitSpeechRecognition converts voice to text, an active internet connection is required.
  • Because it utilizes webkitSpeechRecognition, the plugin only works with Google Chrome. It has been tried with the most recent versions of Firefox, Opera, and Safari, and it works, but only Google Chrome and Opera guarantee complete functionality. On the demo site, there is a test page that allows you to see if your browser supports voice synthesis and recognition.
